Named for the wild Douglas Iris that bloom here in the spring, Iris Vineyards is a south facing, bowl-shaped valley is surrounded by the rolling foothills of the Oregon Coast Mountain Range. Owners Richard Boyles and Pamela Frye began planting their vineyard in 1996 and their first vintage was in 2001. Currently their wines are crafted under the watchful eye of winemaker Aaron Lieberman who joined them in 2008. What first strikes you with the Iris Vineyards Pinot Noir is the bright ruby color as it hits the light as it leaves the bottle. The aromas of raspberry, plum and blackberry are released as you pour it into your glass. In the mouth you are treated to a deep, rich flavor and a long palate which is what makes this wine so versatile with a variety of foods.
